Cold rolled steel coils are a kind of metal products obtained by plastic deformation of hot rolled steel in cold rolling lines. As a result of this process the products have tighter dimensional tolerances, better surface quality and mechanical characteristics compared to hot rolled coils. Furthermore, by cold rolling it is possible to obtain thinner coils that are currently not available for hot rolling mills (less than 0.8-1.0mm).

The most frequently followed European standards for producing cold-rolled coils are EN 10130, EN 10268 and EN 10209.
EN 10130 is applied to cold-rolled coils made of the low-carbon DC01, DC03, DC04, DC05, DC06 and DC07 steel grades for cold forming without coating, with a minimum width of 600 mm and a minimum thickness of 0.35 mm.

EN 10130 sets forth the requirements for surface quality (А, B) and finishing (gloss b, semi-gloss g, matte m, rough r) along with other parameters of cold-rolled coils. Acceptable size and shape tolerances should correspond to EN 10131.
