To prevent the formation of carbide precipitates, the 316ti stainless steel round bar contains an addition of titanium in its alloy. Titanium, as an alloyant in grade UNS S31635 Forged Round Bar prevents the loss of the materials corrosion resistance property. Though the chemistry for both grade 316Ti and 316L are similar to each other, the difference is the stabilizing agent added. 316L contains nitrogen as a stabilizing agent unlike the ASME SA 479 Stainless Steel 316Ti Hex Bar which uses titanium. This being said, many manufacturers across the world recognize and recommend the use of ASTM A276 AISI 316Ti Round Bars instead of stainless steel alloy 316L for two reasons. Firstly in comparison to grade 316L, the 316Ti has a better tensile strength at high temperatures. Secondly, the SS 316Ti Flat Bar exhibits better mechanical strength as well.
