Generally, the quenching temperature of STS420J1 stainless steel coil is 980~1050℃. When STS420J1 stainless steel coil is quenched by heating oil at 980℃, its hardness is obviously lower than that of 1050℃ heating oil quenching and 980℃ oil quenching. STS420J1 stainless steel coil's hardness is HRC45~50, and its hardness is 2HRC higher after oil quenching at 1050℃. Therefore, we recommend heating and quenching at 1000℃ to obtain better microstructure and hardness. Because STS420J1 stainless steel coil is easier to cut and sharpen, it is suitable for the production of knives.
