PH 15-7Mo is a semi-austenitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel that provides high strength
and hardness, good corrosion resistance and minimum distortion on heat treatment.
It is easily formed in the annealed condition and develops an effective balance of properties by simple
heat treatments. For applications requiring exceptionally high strength, cold-reduced PH 15-7Mo
Stainless Steel in Condition CH 900 is particularly useful for applications permitting limited ductility and workability.

Chrome gives the alloy hardness, resistance to corrosion. Nickel increases the ductility. Molybdenum prevents oxidation at high temperature, increases impact resistance, wear resistance.
Cold treatment
Turning, milling, grinding, drilling.
Heat treatment
Normalizing, quenching, annealing, vacation. There are three main steps in heat treating: 1) austenite conditioning, 2) cooling transformation of austenite to martensite and 3) precipitation.
Application
The manufacture of parts operating at elevated temperatures in aggressive environments. Rings, springs, diaphragms, nozzles, and other components of the aircraft
