Stainless Steel Grade 440A is a straight chromium martensitic stainless steel.
440A combines the exceptional wear resistance of heavy carbon alloys with both the good corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels.
Stainless Steel 440A has 1.00 percent silicon, up to 18.00% chromium, and 0.75 maximum molybdenum.
440A is magnetic from throughout the annealing and hard conditions. Only after the steel is completely tempered does it achieve its optimum corrosion resistance.
