17-4 plates also known as UNS S17400, 17-4 PH and Grade 630, is one of the original precipitation hardened grades developed in the 50’s. Primarily 17-4 plates comprised of 17% chromium, 4% nickel, 4% copper, with the balance being iron. 17-4 plates are also trace amounts of manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, columbium (or niobium) and tantalum.

17-4ph h900 clad plate uses temperature at 900 Fahrenheit for 4 hours to harden the element. However, thermal cutting operations should be avoided for this, instead, mechanical cutting operations are to be used.
