The grade 302 stainless is a slightly higher carbon version than grade 304 alloy that is widely found in strip and wire forms. This product is a standard specification for chromium and chromium-nickel stainless steel sheet, plate, and strip used for pressure vessels as well as for general applications.

DESCRIPTION
Type 302 is an austenitic stainless steel capable of attaining high strengths and ductility by cold working. Type 302 is not hardenable by heat treatment and in non-magnetic in the annealed condition. It becomes increasingly magnetic with cold working. If carbide precipitation is an issue 304 may be a better choice with its lower carbon content.

Stainless Steel Sheet/Plate 302/304/304L Annealed is normally used for architectural, cryogenic, and food and beverage applications. 302/304/304L stainless steel has a higher carbon content than the standard 304 alloy which lends itself better for spring applications. This product will have a high enough carbon content to meet what is required for 302 certification, but still has a low enough carbon content to meet the specification for 304/304L, which makes this product triple certified. This allows for a great blend of high carbon properties while also providing more corrosion resistance than the other high carbon stainless alloy, 301. The material itself will be labeled 304 from the mill, but the mill test report (MTR) will have the triple certification for 302, 304, and 304L.
