A240 403 stainless steel sheet is a general purpose grade often supplied in the hardened, but still machinable condition, for applications where high strength and moderate heat and corrosion resistance are required.

A240 403 stainless steel sheet may be satisfactorily welded. Parts should be preheated at 350/400ºF (180/205ºC) to prevent cracking, particularly in heavy sections. Since the A240 403 stainless steel sheet alloy is air hardening, parts should be annealed immediately after welding.
