ASTM A240 UNS N08904 material can be solution heat-treated at 1090 to 1175°C by following by rapid cooling method. Thermal treatment is suitable for hardening it. Alloy 904L steel plate also gives a high resistance to pitting in chloride solutions, an excellent resistance to both crevice and stress corrosion cracking. The combination of high chromium and nickel content, coupled with additions of molybdenum and copper, assure good to excellent corrosion resistance.
