Hot Rolled Coil: Due to manufacturing at high temperatures, hot rolled coils usually have a rougher surface and require subsequent treatment to obtain a flat and quality surface.
Cold Rolled Coil: The cold rolling process provides a flatter and smoother surface quality and usually does not require additional surface treatment.
3. Mechanical Properties:
Hot Rolled Coils: Hot rolled products typically have lower strength and hardness, but better plasticity for applications requiring molding and bending.
Cold rolled coils: Cold rolled products usually have higher strength and hardness, but relatively lower plasticity, suitable for applications requiring high strength and precision.
4. Uses:
HOT ROLLED STEEL COILS: Hot rolled steel is typically used for the manufacture of components, plates, profiles, etc., as well as for applications requiring molding.
Cold rolled steel coils: Cold rolled steel is commonly used in applications requiring high precision, flatness and surface quality, such as automotive manufacturing, electrical appliance manufacturing, and construction materials.
5. Cost:
Hot rolled coils: The production process of hot rolled steel is relatively simple and usually low cost.
Cold rolled steel coils: cold rolled manufacturing process is more complex, usually higher cost.
In short, cold rolled and hot rolled steel coils are suitable for different applications and have different properties and characteristics. The choice of which type of coil depends on the specific project requirements, including material properties, surface quality, cost and processing methods.
