ADVANTAGES/DISADVANTAGES INDUSTRIES APPLICATIONS MACHINING WELDING HEAT TREATMENT

Advantages/Disadvantages

It has high tensile strength and good corrosion resistance. On the other hand, the aluminum does not respond to heat treatment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 3003 AND 3004 ALUMINUM? IS 3003 ALUMINUM USED IN AUTOMOTIVE? IS 3003 ALUMINUM EASILY WELDED?

What's the difference between 3003 and 3004 aluminum?

ANSWER:

3003 aluminum is a general purpose alloy that demonstrates moderate strength, good formability, workability, and can be easily drawn. It shows about 20% greater strength than 1100 aluminum and its primary alloying element is manganese. It shows up in everyday products from hardware and utensils to general sheet metal fabrication and automotive components. It is considered very similar to 3004. The key difference between the two aluminum grades is strength. Unlike 3003 aluminum 3004 has an addition of 1% magnesium which lends it greater strength, nearing the levels of 5052 aluminum.
