S31703 stainless steel bar is an austenitic stainless steel based on molybdenum. It has greater resistance to chemical corrosion than conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as alloy 304. S31703 stainless steel bar is a low carbon grade or L grade and this grade has resistance to sensitisation during welding and during heat treatment. S31703 stainless steel bar is more resistant to corrosion from sulphuric acid solutions than conventional chromium-nickel stainless steels. Its corrosion resistance increases with the molybdenum content of the alloy. S31703 stainless steel bar is used in the manufacture of chemical equipment such as ships and chemical products where high corrosion resistance is required.
