Galvanized steel coil

Jan 05, 2024

Galvanized steel coil is a steel plate or steel coil product that has been treated by hot-dip galvanizing process. The process involves dipping steel coils or sheets into molten zinc, creating a strong zinc coating that protects the steel from corrosion.

Galvanized steel coils have good corrosion resistance and weather resistance and are commonly used in construction, manufacturing, automotive, pipelines and other fields.

Hot dip galvanizing process
1. Prepare the steel: First, the steel plate or steel coil must be surface treated to clean and remove grease, impurities, etc. to ensure the adhesion of the coating.

2. Dip plating process: The pretreated steel is immersed in molten zinc to form a zinc coating. During dip plating, the steel is passed continuously through a series of galvanizing baths to ensure that the surface is evenly coated.

3. Cooling and finishing: After immersion plating, the steel is taken out and cooled. After the coating has cooled, finishing and surface treatment are performed to improve appearance and quality.

Galvanized coating
(1)Normal spangle coating

During the normal solidification process of the zinc layer, the zinc grains grow freely to form a coating with obvious zinc flower morphology.

(2)minimized spangle coating

During the solidification process of the zinc layer, the zinc grains are artificially restricted to form the tiniest possible zinc flower coating.

(3)Spangle-free coating

By adjusting the chemical composition of the plating solution, a coating with a uniform surface without visible spangles is obtained.

(4) zinc-iron alloy coating

The steel strip after passing through the galvanizing bath is heat treated so that the entire coating forms an alloy layer of zinc and iron. This coating has a dark gray appearance with no metallic luster and is easily powdered during the violent forming process. It is suitable for use in addition to general A coating that can be painted directly without further processing other than cleaning.

Performance advantages of galvanized steel coils

1. Excellent anti-corrosion performance: There is a strong zinc coating on the surface of the galvanized steel coil, which effectively blocks the erosion of the steel by air, water and other corrosive factors, providing excellent corrosion resistance. This makes it highly durable in a variety of environments, especially those that are humid, rainy, or contain chemicals.

2. Good weather resistance: Galvanized steel coils are resistant to UV rays, oxygen and other weather factors, so they perform well in outdoor applications. This makes it widely used in building structures, roofing materials and outdoor equipment.

3. Excellent processability: Galvanized steel coils have good plasticity and can be processed by bending, forming, cutting, welding, etc., and are suitable for various shapes and sizes.

4. Reliable coating consistency: The galvanizing process can provide a uniform and consistent coating. Whether on flat steel plates or coils, the coating quality is relatively reliable, helping to improve product quality and appearance.

5. Cost-effective and efficient: Galvanized steel coils have relatively low maintenance costs and can extend their service life and reduce maintenance and replacement costs due to their excellent corrosion resistance.

6. Recyclability: Galvanized steel coil is a recyclable material that meets environmental protection requirements and helps reduce resource waste.
