FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO YOU COMPARE THE DIFFERENT 5754 TEMPERS? WHAT MAKES 5754 ALUMINUM SUITABLE FOR MARINE APPLICATIONS? WHAT MAKES THIS GRADE GOOD FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY?
How do you compare the different 5754 tempers?
ANSWER:
This grade is available in H111, H114, H22, H24, and H26. Two main differences dependent on temper are strength and hardness. So, for example, when comparing H111 to H26, H26 is stronger and harder, with a maximum tensile strength of 200 for H111 versus 305 for H26. This implies that H26 would be better suited for applications requiring higher strength and impact resistance, while H111 might be better suited where forming is needed.
