DX51D+ZM
DX51D+ZM is a hot-dip coated steel grade with a Zn-Al-Mg (zinc-aluminum-magnesium) coating system designed to provide significantly improved corrosion resistance compared to conventional galvanized steel (Z or GI coating).
It is widely used in construction, solar energy systems, automotive components, and outdoor structural applications where long-term durability and low maintenance are required.
The base steel grade DX51D follows European standard EN 10346 and is typically used for general forming purposes. When combined with the +ZM coating, the material gains enhanced protection against:
- Atmospheric corrosion
- Salt spray environments
- High humidity exposure
- Edge corrosion after cutting
This makes DX51D+ZM a next-generation alternative to traditional galvanized steel such as DX51D+Z or DX51D+AZ.

Zinc-aluminum-magnesium Steel Test
Zinc aluminum-magnesium coated steel is a new type of corrosion-resistant coated steel sheet consisting mainly of zinc, about 11% aluminum, 3% magnesium and trace amounts of silicon.
ZM is a highly corrosion-resistant hot-dip Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium alloy coated steel sheet. Due to the effects of magnesium and aluminum, Z-A-M has excellent corrosion resistance, scratch resistance and formability.

Case Studies
This project demonstrates the application of DX51D+ZM (Zn-Al-Mg coated steel coil) in a rooftop solar photovoltaic mounting system. The system was installed on a commercial building rooftop with limited load-bearing capacity and high corrosion exposure requirements.
To ensure long-term stability and corrosion resistance, the structural components were manufactured using DX51D+ZM steel coil, which was processed into customized cold-formed profiles for solar mounting applications.

Project Outcome
The final installed system demonstrates:
High structural stability under wind load conditions
Clean and modular installation design
Improved anti-corrosion performance in outdoor exposure
Reduced installation time due to prefabricated components
This case confirms that DX51D+ZM steel coil is highly suitable for solar PV mounting systems, especially in projects requiring long-term durability and low lifecycle cost.

FAQ
1. What is DX51D+ZM steel used for?
It is mainly used for solar mounting systems, construction structures, outdoor steel components, and industrial equipment requiring high corrosion resistance.
2. How is DX51D+ZM different from DX51D+Z?
DX51D+ZM uses a Zn-Al-Mg coating, which provides significantly better corrosion resistance and edge protection compared to traditional zinc coating (Z).
3. Is DX51D+ZM suitable for coastal environments?
Yes. It performs much better than galvanized steel in high humidity and coastal areas due to magnesium-enhanced protection.
4. Can DX51D+ZM be welded or cut easily?
Yes. It can be laser cut, punched, and welded, although proper parameters should be used to protect the coating.
5. What is the typical lifespan of DX51D+ZM steel?
Depending on coating thickness and environment, it can last 2–5 times longer than standard galvanized steel.
6. What industries use DX51D+ZM most?
Solar energy, construction, transportation, and outdoor infrastructure industries are the main users.
