I. Introduction

The European Car Body Conference (ECB Conference) classifies automotive steel plates according to metallurgical tissue types, dividing steel types into traditional mild steel, high-strength steel, advanced high-strength steel and ultra-high-strength steel.

Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS) are materials with a multi-phase structure. The required chemical composition and multi-phase microstructure are achieved through strict control of heating and cooling processes, and various strengthening mechanisms are used to achieve different strengths, Ductility, toughness and fatigue properties.

2. Performance

In the past, steel with a tensile strength exceeding 550 MPa could be classified as advanced high-strength steel, while steel with a tensile strength exceeding 780 MPa was classified as ultra-high-strength steel. However, the current minimum tensile strength of multi-phase advanced high-strength steel is 440 Mpa, so using strength as a criterion for defining advanced high-strength steel is no longer applicable. Advanced high-strength steel with a tensile strength of 1000 MPa is also commonly called 1GPa steel. Third-generation advanced high-strength steels are expected to achieve equivalent or better performance at lower costs.
