Common electrical tests on power transformers
Regularly performing a series of standard electrical tests has proven to be an effective method of gaining reliable understanding of the operation of a transformer and extending its service life. Mechanical changes in the windings, contact problems at tap changers or other connections, winding/coil short circuits and interruptions or short circuits in parallel lines can be diagnosed early through routine testing methods. As a result, serious and expensive damage can be avoided.

These traditional test methods include measuring the short-circuit impedance, transformation ratio, excitation current, winding resistance and dynamic winding resistance of the tap changer. With our test systems you can easily determine all these parameters using a single device. Once you've finished testing, you can also degauss the transformer.
