The 1020 steel is a standard that’s been specified by the AISI or the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Therefore, this particular steel type can be designated by a different name, too, some of which include:
- ASTM or the American Society for Testing and Materials– A108, A29 type steel
- UNS or the Unified Number System– G10200 steel
- DIN or the Deutsches Institut für Normung– 1.0402 steel type
So, when you encounter A108 A29, don’t be confused! It is the 1020 steel – just looked into as steel in the ASTM standard!
